Objective: Postoperative bleeding after tonsillectomie is severe risk. Different methods of haemostasis should have influence on frequency or time or danger of bleeding.
Material and methods: All patients of our clinic treated with tonsillectomie, were asked to remember every bleeding episode and its treatment. This was completed by telephone call 4 weeks after dimission.
Results: 227 patient occurred 33 bleeding episodes. 10 had to operated second time and 21 were only examined by a doctor without any therapy. 5,1% of patient treated with coagulation by the first time occurred severe bleeding, but 2,86% of patients treated with suture. All together we registered bleeding episodes in 13,38% of the first group but 17,14 in the second group.
Conclusions: Haemostasis by coagulation after tonsillectomie shows less bleeding episodes but most of them had to be treated with operation. For this reason we propose the suture of identified bleeding vessels and coagulation in carefully manner to avoid tissue carbonization and perturbation in healing.
