Interprofessionalism in health has been a focus of international policy discussions due to its potential to promote safety and quality of care, thereby enhancing health system performance. Accumulated evidence shows the numerous advantages of interprofessional education and collaboration in terms of educational, professional, organisational, patient, and family outcomes. During this talk, I will present over two decades of evidence and discuss why there should be a continuous and growing investment in interprofessionalism in health. I will also outline current trends in this space and make future predictions regarding areas of growth, with associated implications for interprofessional skills labs.
